Roger Morgan refers to himself as a Theatre Design Specialist. Following a sucessful carrer as a scenic designer and lighting designer on Broadway which even earned him a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for his work on “The Crucifer of Blood”, he followed his passion for architecture and started to work as a design consultant for theatres in 1974 – we are talking about the design of the actual theatres (–> buildings), not productions. In this video, he explains some details of his work on the Nederlander Theater on Broadway which he carried out after the 12 years RENT played in it – and left it in a condition desperate for some attention. This video (produced by The American Theater Wing) features some amazing images of the theatre’s original beauty as well as of the different stages it has gone through up to post-restoration. It is great to watch and makes you appreciate theatre from yet another angle – enjoy!
